FAQs

Way to go … you got here … reaching out can be the hardest part!

What can I expect in my first session?

Your first session is a gentle starting point. We’ll talk about why you picked up the phone and made this call. It’s a chance to get comfortable, ask questions, and start creating a space that feels safe and supportive for you.

What if I’ve tried therapy before and it didn’t help?

That’s more common than you think. The right fit matters … both with your therapist and with timing. My approach is about meeting you where you are, not where you “should” be.

How long will I need therapy?

The length of therapy is different for everyone. Some clients come for a few months to focus on a specific concern, while others find ongoing support helpful as they move through life’s changes. My goal is to help you build insight, tools, and confidence so you feel ready to continue growing on your own.

Do you take insurance?

I am a self-pay provider, which means I don’t bill insurance directly. However, many clients use out-of-network benefits and submit receipts for partial reimbursement. I accept credit or debit cards, as well as Health Savings (HSA) or Flex Spending (FSA) cards.

How long is a session, and what is your cancellation policy?

Sessions are 50 minutes. I ask for at least 24 hours notice to cancel or reschedule an appointment. Late cancellations or missed sessions may be charged the full session fee.

Why counseling when I can just talk with my friends?

Talking to friends is great. But when you come into my office for counseling, this is your “safe space.” Here, you can unpack what’s heavy, uncertain, or confusing … and know you’ll be heard. I have over 20 years of experience being present, listening to each person and their unique story, and helping them write a new next chapter.

How do you start your day before seeing clients?

I love the taste of that first cup of coffee in the morning … it’s part of my quiet time to get grounded before the day begins. You’ll often find me with a mug of coffee throughout the day. Coffee and compassion are the unofficial fuel of my practice.
