Crisis Debriefing
How will your organization respond?
It is important to quickly devise a plan to minimize the emotional impact of those affected and to enhance the ability of each employee to recover and return to work.
I am an expert and seasoned professional in helping businesses through crisis, working with leadership to devise the most effective intervention.
There are many types of trauma that may affect your employees: mass layoffs, an employee’s death, workplace assaults, natural or man-made disasters. Individuals experience a range of emotions in reaction to the event.
What is the most effective process to help employees?
Critical Incident Stress Debriefing (CISD) is a proven method of brief intervention designed to provide emotional and psychological support to those affected by the trauma. It formalizes the process of encouraging people to share their thoughts and feelings while reflecting on the traumatic event and processing its impact.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with specific training in CISD. Over the past 15 years I have conducted many debriefings for organizations in the Richmond area. In 2015, I conducted CISDs for several companies in Baltimore, Maryland, after the riots. I also conducted many CISDs in Las Vegas for employees of companies and hospitals affected by the mass shooting.
Will the response be tailored to the needs of our organization?
I partner with leadership to determine the needs of their company and devise a unique plan to be most effective in helping their employees. Debriefings can be conducted in large groups, small groups, or one-to-one formats. CISD is designed to help employees understand possible stress reactions and symptoms; learn new coping skills; learn about possible resources; and move toward finding meaning, hope, and healing.
